Manuskript 0.17.0 got released.
It has been quite a while since last release because there hasn’t been a huge overall addition to the software in terms of features but there still have been quite a bit of fixes for different kinds of crashes.
What has been done?
Fixes
This release is mostly containing fixes for different bugs and crashes to ensure Manuskript is more reliable. We still recommend doing frequent backups of your projects. But overall the new release should be an improvement in many different cases. A detailed list can be found in the changelog.
Thanks to all different contributors helping with all kinds of bugs and issues.

Thank you for your continued efforts to maintain and improve this magnificent software.
I’m glad that you still found the time to program and prepare a release.
Much appreciated.
Hi, I’ve tried a couple of times to download the windows version, but my navigator blocked it with an alert of detected virus.
Any advice?
Very likely a false-positive. We use automated builds using Github CI for the Windows binaries.
So, there’s no problem if I still go on with the download?
I would assume so. You can still decide to run the application from source code or build your own binary if preferred.
Are you able to reassure others in the Manuskript subreddit, please? Some windows users were anxious about the Windows Defender false alarm, and probably didn’t think to check here. I checked twitter and github, but didn’t find anything. In any case, thank you kindly for the work that you do.
I think someone already linked the Github issue regarding the problem on Reddit. Also I’m kind of confused why people are now alarmed since we had a false-positive note on all previous releases. It’s pretty much a common issue on any project using PyInstaller to build a binary for Windows out of Python scripts.
People are alarmed probably because Windows Defender just deleted the downloaded executable automatically. I have never seen it act as this alarmed with any app before.
I think I will use version 16.1 now. I have no time to wrestle with Windows Defender atm. I either need to turn off real-time protection or not use it.
This is virustotal’s result. Microsoft flag it as severe trojan. I didn’t even know Microsoft’s AV is on it until today.

In case the valuation changes in the future.

Thank you thank you thank you for this wonderful program!!!
Great programme !
I´m using the old version on my Mac.
Where can I find the new version for the MacOS ?
This time I wasn’t able to build any version for MacOS because it requires such system and we don’t have an automated build process for MacOS yet on Github. So unfortunately you either have to build the binary yourself, run the application from source or wait for some Mac user to contribute to an automated solution for releases.
I hope this helps!
I LOVE this project/product! I’ve been using it for about a year instead of Scrivner. I’d like to send you a reoccurring donation to support your work and show appreciation for this awesome project. What’s the best way to do that? Thanks again! — Eric Heflin, Founding CTO, eHealth Exchange
We currently don’t have a centralized way to financially support the distributed development between many contributors. So you would probably need to check on Github which contributors are actively working on current issues or features and which of them list any way to support them directly.
In the footer of this page you will also find a link to donate to Olivier via Paypal which originally started the project and is still hosting this website.
I hope this helps.
I’m sending a small monthly donation to Oliver. Happy to also support others if you come up with a way to donate. Love this project! I’ve recommended it to many others who also love it.
